The Digital Evangelism Ad Blueprint That Gets New Church Visitors by Next Sunday

How One Pastor Went From Hoping and Praying for Growth to Getting 1,000 Prayer Requests in 4 Days Using a Simple 3-Step System

If you're reading this, chances are you know the pain I'm talking about.

You look out at your congregation on Sunday morning and see the same faces you've been seeing for months... maybe years. You've prayed about it. You've tried social media posts. You've even live-streamed your services hoping someone, somewhere might connect.

But deep down, you know something has to change.

My name is RK Castillo, and for over a decade, I was a missionary evangelist preaching to crowds in stadiums around the world. I thought I had evangelism figured out. But when God called me into church planting, I discovered something that changed everything about how I think about reaching people.

The Brutal Reality Every Pastor Faces

Here's what most pastors don't want to admit: it costs on average $330,000 to get someone to say yes to Jesus and get them baptized. Some studies say it's even higher - up to 1.5 million dollars.

Meanwhile, churches are closing faster than they're opening. A 2021 study by LifeWay Research found that 4,500 churches closed while only 3,000 new churches started. The median church worship attendance dropped from 137 to 65 people.

If you're a pastor reading this, you probably feel this pain every Sunday morning when you look out at those empty pews.

You've probably tried the "hope and pray" method - just hoping more people will show up today, praying that your social media posts will somehow turn into new church members.

But what if I told you there was a way to get that number all the way down to just $63? Or better yet, what if I showed you how I ran a single Facebook ad that cost just 18 cents to get someone to say "I'd like to join your church"?

The Greatest Opportunity in Church History (That Most Pastors Are Missing)

Here's what most pastors don't realize: we're living in the greatest opportunity for church growth in human history.

The average American spends 7 hours and 4 minutes looking at their screens every single day. The average Gen Z person is on their phone for 9 hours a day. People spend two and a half hours of that time on social media.

Think about that - the people in your community who are far from God are spending 2.5 hours every day on platforms where you can reach them for just a couple of dollars.

Social media companies like Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok need to keep the lights on and pay their bills, so they've made it possible for you to spend just a few bucks and get your message in front of those people who are in your community, on their devices, for two and a half hours every day.

The Simple 3-Step System That Changes Everything

After years of traveling as a missionary evangelist and then moving into church planting, I discovered what I call the O2F Method - Online Outreach First.

It's based on the same funnel Jesus used to make disciples.

You see, Jesus would meet needs - heal the sick, multiply bread - and thousands would gather. Where are the crowds nowadays?

Where's their attention? They're all looking down at a screen. This screen becomes the top of the funnel for you.

Here's exactly how the system works:

Step 1: Run One Of The O2F System Ads

This is the foundation of everything. For example, if you run the Miracle Question Ad, You create a simple video of yourself asking: "If God could do a miracle in your life, what would it be?"

You target this ad to people within 10 miles of your church location, and the call to action is simply "Click the button below to message us."

For around 18 cents, we have got someone to message us asking us for prayer. We've run these ads and gotten 1,000 people messaging us in 4 days for about 11 cents per prayer request.

In fact, it was so many people asking for prayer that our team had to call me and ask, "Hey, would you please turn these ads off? It's working too well. We have too many people to pray for. We can't keep up with all of them."

Step 2: Pray for Them

When someone responds to your Miracle Question ad asking for prayer, here's exactly what you do: grab your phone, hit the little microphone, and record an audio prayer.

Mention them by name in the prayer, pray specifically for what they asked for, and make it personal and heartfelt. Once you're done praying, finish with something like this:

"We'd love to meet you this Sunday. We have a service at 10am, we'd love to meet you before the service, get you a good cup of coffee, and if you have any kids, we'll get them checked into children's ministry. So I'm just curious, can you make it this Sunday?"

The key is the audio message - it's personal, it shows you actually care enough to pray for them by name, and it builds a real connection that text messages simply can't create.

Around 10% of the people you pray for will actually come to your church.

Step 3: Plan Your Visit Process

This is where most pastors drop the ball. Imagine you're an unbeliever and you're thinking about visiting a church for the first time. You don't know what to wear, you don't know where to go, you don't know how the people will act. You want to help people overcome these barriers.

Your Plan Your Visit system has three simple steps:

  • Reserved Parking and Greeter Meet-Up: When they arrive, you've got a reserved parking spot near the entrance, and one of your greeters is waiting just for them by the front door.

  • Walkthrough and Kids Check-In: The greeter walks with them, shows them around, and if they brought kids, helps get them checked in or helps them sit with the family, whichever works best.

  • Sit With You and Meet the Pastor: Your greeter sits with them in the service so they're not alone, and afterward they introduce them to one of the pastors.

This three-step system removes every barrier and awkward moment that keeps people from coming back a second time. One leader who did this process found that 80% of those who signed up for the Plan Your Visit became members of the church within three weeks.

The Math That Makes It Predictable (No More Hoping and Praying)

Here's where it gets exciting. Once you run these ads consistently, you'll know your numbers. You can predict exactly how much it will cost to get new families in your church.

I had a pastor friend tell me, "RK, I really felt like God was going to give us 100 new church members this year, but it didn't happen." My immediate thought was, "What's the math?"

He was hoping and praying for growth, but he had no system, no strategy, and no way to predict or control his results.

But once you understand the math behind church growth, you can predict exactly how much it will cost to get new church members, and more importantly, you can scale your growth systematically instead of just hoping it happens.

The Results That Prove This Works

When we moved to Paraguay in South America to start a Youth With A Mission training base, the pandemic hit and everyone was locked in their homes. Kids couldn't leave their homes, adults could only leave on certain days of the week, and we realized we had this massive opportunity - everyone in this nation was at home on their phones.

We started creating Facebook ads to minister and equip people in their homes. We basically reached every single person in this nation who had a telephone using Facebook ads, and since it was like a third-world country and no one was really buying ads at the time, we reached everyone in the country for about $1,000.

Then one Easter, we decided to do an Easter evangelism campaign using the miracle question ads, and in four days, we had about a thousand people messaging us asking us for prayer.

It was so many people asking for prayer that our team had to call me and ask, "Hey, would you please turn these ads off? It's working too well. We have too many people to pray for. We can't keep up with all of them."

I even got someone to message me for about 18 cents asking for prayer, and they said, "I'd like to go to your church," even though I didn't even have a church in that nation.

That's the power of the O2F Method - you can reach people where they're at now, lead people to Jesus, and if you follow the process, you can get results that seemed impossible with traditional evangelism methods.

Why This Works When Everything Else Fails

The O2F Method works because it meets people exactly where they are - not where we wish they were.

Instead of waiting for people to find your church, you're going out into your community digitally, serving them first, and building relationships before you ever ask them to step foot in your building.

You're not being pushy or salesy. You're being pastoral - offering prayer, hope, and genuine care to people who need it most.

This isn't about being trendy or trying to keep up with technology - this is about being strategic with the greatest evangelism tool that's ever been created.

The ads and scripts are designed to start real conversations and build trust, not to pressure anyone. You'll be connecting with people in an authentic, pastoral way - just using the tools that reach them where they are.
